Jennifer Szalewicz, President

Jennifer has been working in Human Resources for 9 years and specifically in healthcare for 7 years. Jennifer currently works as the Senior Employment Specialist at Karmanos Cancer Institute, recruiting all Nursing and Physician Extender positions. In the past 3 years at Karmanos, she has recruited throughout the entire organization and implemented their first applicant tracking system. Prior to Karmanos, Jennifer worked with St. John Health System, and St. Joseph Mercy Macomb (now Henry Ford Macomb).

Jennifer holds a Bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University, James Madison College in Social Relations and is currently pursuing her Masters of Science Administration degree in Human Resources from Central Michigan University. She has been a member of HCRAMD for 8 years and has held several positions including, Secretary, VP Membership and Vice President. Jennifer has been a member of National Association for Healthcare Recruiters since 2004 and has attended the NAHCR conference for the past 4 years. Jennifer also participates in both the Race for the Cure Planning Committee and the Breast Cancer 3-day.

Diane DiFiore, Vice President/President Elect

Diane has been at Oakwood her entire career working in a variety of positions. She has held roles in the Emergency Department, Nursing Education, Supervision and Management. Diane’s most recent role is overseeing Corporate Nurse Recruitment and Retention, including a system wide model of care called Relationship Oriented Care.

Diane received her BSN from Mercy College and a Master’s in Health Service Administration from the University of Detroit. She is the Co-Chair of Corporate Professional Excellence Council and a member of the Nursing Executive Council and Corporate Nursing Operations Council. Diane is also a member of Sigma Theta Tau.

Diane has discussed recruitment and retention as a featured panelist on Comcast, in Nursing Spectrum, Crain’s Detroit Monthly and at the 2007 Michigan Nursing Summit. She has also received certification in Relationship and Results Oriented Healthcare as a Specialist and Facilitator and was a Nightingale nominee in 2004

Fiona Blanchard, Secretary

Fiona Blanchard has been working as an Employment Representative with Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak for the past 2 years. Fiona currently recruits for all positions in the areas of Surgical Services and the Emergency Center. Prior to this position, Fiona was the Nurse Recruiter for Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital and recruited for all nursing and nursing support positions. Fiona has been and active member of Health Care Recruiters Association of Metro Detroit since 2005. Fiona graduated from Oakland University in 2001 with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources and has worked in Human Resources for 7 years.

Lance Pittman, Treasurer

Lance Pittman is a Recruiter at Mount Clemens Regional Medical Center, primarily responsible for nurse recruitment and other critical specialties within the hospital. Lance was a previous Community Liaison and Recruiter for St John Health prior to coming to Mt Clemens and has been in Human Resources for nearly 15 years.

He is a veteran of the United States Air Force holding various positions in recruiting including Training Manager and Health Professions Recruitment Manager. A Distinguished Graduate of the U.S. Air Force Management Academy, Lance also holds an Associate in Applied Science degree in Personnel Administration and Bachelor of Science degree in Public Relations.

Marilyn Koski, Vice President of Membership

Marilyn Koski has been Nurse Recruiter at Beaumont Hospital – Royal Oak since 1995. She has been with Beaumont overall since 1974, and has held nursing positions in the Orthopedic Unit, Home Care/Discharge Planning, and Continuing Care Services. She was Assistant Director of Continuing Care Services for 8 years, just prior to coming to Human Resources. Marilyn has recruited for all areas of nursing throughout the years, including Inpatient Nursing Units, Emergency, Perioperative areas, and Cardiology. Currently she has responsibility for the Critical Care Units and Med Surg units. She has been active in the Visa Screen group, and has served as resource on Visa and immigration issues for her HR colleagues in the department. She is the HR representative on the hospital-wide Professional Nurse Council.

Marilyn has also worked for the Visiting Nurse Association, Advanced Professional Home Health Care working with an infusion program, and was a Vista Volunteer for her first job in Louisiana.

Marilyn has been an active member of Health Care Recruiters Association of Metro Detroit since she joined Human Resources. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor. (Go Blue!)

The HCRAMD has five standing committees each is chaired by an officer.  Active members may participate on any committee; Associate and Institutional members may not participate on the Bylaw committee.
